If you just turned the key on the pump only stays on for 2 seconds at the most. Put the fuel filter back on and the check the fuel pressure, it is pretty easy. Reach back behind the intake manifold and you will feel and see something that looks like a tire valve stem cap, unscrew it just like you would a valve stem cap then screw the gauge line onto the fitting and tighten hand tight. Put then put the gauge up to the windshield or have a buddy hold it and turn the key and tell us what the pressure does...

FYI I ran out of gas to the point where it was sputtering but didnt die and my fuel pump got weaker and weaker to where I was having to turn the key to prime the pump 2-3 times before it would fire.

If you get a new pump I recommend Racetronix, there stuff is just plug and play and really simple. I have their kit on my car and it works great. It only took me 2-3hrs to install the fp since I cut the hatch in the rear, people will tell you not to do it but its really just a choice on your part. I made a plate out of steel and ran some super copper around it and then bolted it down with small sheet metal screws.

Jumpering it merely lets the pump continuously stay on, instead of cutting off after 2 seconds. It's just for testing purposes. You're probably right that it is the pump.

Ok, I'll try it tommorow. I tried a couple of times right when I got gas to turn the key on-off several times hoping it would work but never did. Tommorow I will go ahead and pressure test it and see about jumping the pump.

I'll let you all know what happens.

I put the pressure tester to the line, Turned the key and got 26PSI - Hanes manual says I need 41-47.

Any Ideas?

26 psi is not going to be enough pressure. If that is the max you can get with repeatedly turning the key ON or jumpering the prime connector, you are going to need a new pump.

Ok guys another update.
I just went out, and re-tried the pressure test. If I turn the key once, It goes to 26PSI, Turn it off and back on it will hit 40-41PSI.

Does the engine run and if so, what is the pressure with it running?

No it wont run. I can turn the key till hell freezes over twice and it wont fire. It will turn but not fire. I replaced the Fuel Filter, The Pump WILL get 40-41PSI after I turn the key twice and I have syphoned(sp?) out the gas and put 4gal of 100% good gas, But the car still wont fire.

I havnt checked yet. Im a little ignorant to some of this. Is there anyway to check for spark other than pulling a plug. Just a thought with the ether being sprayed the car fires but is using the ther as a gas. Doesnt this mean it is getting spark?
