Stumped

I have been trying to diagnose a problem and have gone nowhere. My headers glow red and my engine bay seems a lot warmer. I have done many things and it seems like if i have no progress to show for. I have a walbro 255,30lb injectors, opti-spark, msd coil, new ignition module, plugs/wires, and New 02's. Everything has about 2k on them and nothing has changed. Pcm is tuned by pcmforless so im stumped. Would loose or too tight R.R. cause this? The problem sucks, I have changed valve cover gaskets 2 times in 2k miles from all the heat, and i may have to buy new valve covers cause it seems like they might be starting to rust. What can be causing all this?

Re: Stumped

when headers glow red that means its running to lean. just because you got the tune from pcmforless doesnt mean the tune is right. everyone makes mistakes. i would call brian and see what he has to say. i say bad tune....

edit:....when you did the opti did you make sure you put the opti "in time" w/ the cam pin? if you didnt do that then you would be throwing spark at the wrong time to the wrong cylinders.

Bryan has reprogrammed my pcm 2x and still the same so i rule bad tune out.The opti-spark is set-right.I Have checked fuel pressure. Set at 38 idle and 45 no vacuum for wot. What are the main reasons that cause lean conditions?

Re: Stumped

Actually, glowing headers can be a result from running rich. Unburnt mixture are still burning in headers. If your opti is on right, I'd try to readjust rockers.

Re: Stumped

I will try to re-adjust r.r. and will also put new o2's on car, although i doubt it is any of these. This problem has been going on for a long time now, around the time i had my h/c put on. Would and can the timing be an issue?

Re: Stumped

Definitely can be a timing issue. Do a search on "Glowing Headers", there alot of opinions on this subj.
