Unhappy Stumbles and problem downshifting

OK....i put in new plugs new wires new 02's and gutted the cat cause it was clogged...and i got rid of the ping...but i still have my stumble....it stumbles till 2000 rpm's then watch out cause its MOVIN'! i manually shift the car (a4) cause of the stumble and try to keep it out of that 2000 rpm band. If i put the car in OD and hit it...FORGET it! it just seems to shake and stumble all over itself. Any ideas? 60k on the speedo and oh yeah its a 94 Z. i cant power brake the car cause of this crap ...no matter what if in 1st gear or D it still stumbles....HELP

Ditto.
My 2k rpm "stumble" was opti. Felt like my gas engine had been replaced by a steam engine it shook so much.

Ughhh...the dreaded Opti....lets pray to the gods thats not it...my bank account is being run out by this damn car...and wont have enough $$ to play with the Chevy II....

Thanks alot guys...think maybe i could have a vaccuum leak? Would that cause a stumble? Thanks!

Re: Stumbles and problem downshifting

I am not sure how to check the EGR. I would just replace it. MY car has 60k on it and it throws an EGR code every few days. Alot of times the EGR won't even through a code though. There are certain RPMS that the EGR works and doesnt work, and I don't remember what they are. 2,000 rpm could be where it turns on. I don't think it works at idle, and this could be why it stumbles.

The transmision filter dont do yourself unless you have a lift. I did it myself, took me about an hour, didnt wait for it to cool, dropped the pan, scalded my face, arms, chest, and then had to lay in all the fluid to work. I think the average shop charges $100 to do it. The kit with the gasket, filter, and little o-ring thing is about $10 from Advanced Auto.

Yea i do have a lift... so itll be a little easier. I think theres a way to check the EGR and ive seen it on here but do not remember the exact way. Anyone can tell me how to check it? I will also check for vaccuum leaks on the car maybe thatll cause a stumble!
