Angry stumble and backfire..after LT's installed

not having a good week. just got my jet hot long tubes installed. i replaced all the plugs and wires. i made a custom side exhaust kit all 3" with bullet mufflers. it ran good for a while and now it runs like crap. i get back fire while it idles, it pops on the drivers side only, and i can hear a ticking from the exhaust on the drivers side only. the pass side sounds like it fine. it stumbles through all rpm's. i dont know what the deal is, i have a MAF problem that i never had before. and i have a cam link chip malfunction, i have no idea what that means either, but i dont like the way its running. its driving me crazy, i dont have any more money to invest in it for a few months. i just put around a grand into it in the last month.

any thoughts? what it could be?

i was driving it the other night and it was running great, weather was good. parked it for 15 minutes and started it back up and it was giving my trouble, and thats when it all began.

i would look under the hood at night and see if you see any sparks flying. you could of possibly burnt a plug wire.

I agree, it sounds like you may have burned a wire. Make sure none of your wires are touching the header primaries. The ticking noise may be an exhaust leak also, what kind of gaskets did you use?

an arcing plug wire will tick too. pop your hood late at night when it's good and dark and look for sparks while the motor is running.

Also, make sure all the wires are in the right spot. I know you said it ran fine before, but who knows...just a simple double check of the firing order to make sure they are going to the right plugs...

i don't know that you will be able to get one wire only. you could always try the for sale section and see if anyone has a used set or something. possibly try posting on the wanted section too.

as much as i hate selling junk parts... ie. anything Taylor made!.... i do happen to have some i could get you. my old wires are blue.. i believe i have all eight and routed them over the valve cover so they should be plenty long. just figure out how long of a wire you need and ill salvage my best one... kept them for a rainy day. if you are interested just email me.

you could also try to cover up the burnt area with some silicone and see what happens... really its just a treatment not a cure so eventually you will need new wires. good luck!
