Strut Tower Brace... Does it REALLY do anything?

I'm thinking about installing a STB in my Z, but I gotta ask... Does it really do anything? I mean, for street and track use with a mainly stock car, what will it really help? Have any of you noticed improved handling or anything?

I had the Strut tower brace and the KBDD sub frame put in at the same time. What a difference. I would think my KBDD made the biggest improvement IMO. Unlike most opinions, I have found there is more road noise and rattles. But this first started when I switched to a poly trans and TA mount, and got worse with the rear suspension bushings. The car does handle better tho. Its like they say, you can't have your cake and eat too.

You can have up to a 1/4" deflection in those towers under hard cornering. They will get rid of just about all of that. There are some out there that also tie into the firewall and triangulate the two towers and firewall. That's the ultimate solution but the street prepared class I run in won't allow that so I went with the BMR Chrome moly. Mine will be installed tomorrow so I can't vouch for how well it works yet but I've had other cars where I've done similar things and can tell you it will definitely stiffen the structure of the car. It's a noticeable difference in cornering.

Hell no they are a complete waste of money. The three points are good at cracking your windshield. If you notice a difference you are the same person that gets a noticable kick for a new muffler

Maybe on a 4th gen but it was great on my 2nd gen. You obviously don't have much experience autocrossing. Go read http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...&highlight=STB and see blown 383's post.

I think your muffler comment was uncalled for.

I noticed a big difference. I havent done my suspension yet and I put in a BMR SFC....I like the handle when I hit corners...pretty firm and I take corner a lil bit rougher than before...just dont get too crazy. lol

What are you talking about? That is BS. It made a definite difference on my car.
I have yet to see anyone on this board who has cracked a windshield because of a 3 point STB.
