Re: Stroker problems

69 Vette,

I had the same thing happen to me. I'm using the same Rods and L19 bolts.
I had a shop weld/braze the hole and then I'm using about a 1" of block fill
I was told not to have more than 1" put in because I could have cooling problems for a street car in AZ.

I don't think there is anything else that could be done besides using different rods and rod bolts. I did my own clearancing with a instructor watching. The L19 bolts are frigging huge.

The shop that fixed the hole said they fix holes often and have never had a problem but I'm doing the block fill as extra protection.

Let me now how it works out. I'm waiting for my block fill to be done right now.

Re: Stroker problems

Sounds like we had the same issue with the bolts. What shop is doing your work? And yeah i was told to only fill the block as much as neccessary.

Re: Stroker problems

A place in Phoenix called mach Development is doing my block fill.
A Shop Called RNR did the work on the hole. I decided not to do the block fill myself after listening to the proceedure they use to do it. I figure there is a good chance of messing something up. I don't want any problems with cooling.

Let me know how your goes.

Re: Stroker problems

69vette,

Thats good.
Do you know anymore about the exact process they used to weld it up?
I contacted my shop Friday and asked them about this again. They indicated to me that they have seen lots of blocks welded up.
I know the shop I had fix mine used some type of Braze material.
I'm guessing the L:19 bolts are overkill since the guy selling the 1200 hp stroker motor in the for sale section is using Eagle H beams and Arp 2000 bolts.
I'm also having my rods checked out since someone mentioned in here that eagle rods are out of tolerance a lot. I had my Eagle crank checked out allready and it came back very good. I used the 4340 lighweight Eagle crank.
