Is this stroker kit good??
scat 9000 series internal balance style crank
cat 6" 5140 forged steel I beam rods
probe forged pistons dished for compression to use pump gas
probe file fit racing rings plasma moly
clevite rod and main bearings
Also would a Comp Cam #306 be a good cam to use with it??
if not which one?
thanks

Scat crank is good, runs about $250 to $300 by itself. The rods are garbage if they are CAT, if they are SCAT, then they are ok, nothing special, maybe $250 at most. The pistons are good, I personally like probe's stuff. More popular with the mustang crowd, but who cares. I would go bigger than a 306 for a stroker. 383 or 396 I would go a good bit bigger. Make sure you have the heads to support it too. For the whole kit though, I would expect to pay around $1100 or so. Thats a little on the high side too.
What type of motor is this for? NA?, nitrous? supercharged? How much power are you wanting to make? I could have got a similar kit except with eagle rods and SRP pistons for $1100 through a local engine shop. Luckly, I waited and found someone selling a new, in the boxes, all forged kit for $1000 with a Scat 4340 crank, 4340 H-beams and JE pistons. I will be using this with a CC306. The best cam for your application will depend on my first question.
Thanks! The kit is 913.00 brand new. I'm going N/a. The main reason i'm stroking it, is because of very used up motor. I have to rebuilt it so i thought i would just stroke it out!
As far as power i just want to make some where to put me in the 12's here at 4,000 feet. Last run was a 14.3 at 99.6 mph with a g2 intake and flowmaster cat back. I'm going to get longtube headers and other little stuff when i get some more money.
Just want to go fast on a little money!
would 40 over on a lt1 be a 391ci???

OK it's kind of hard to say what cam you will need w/o the rest of the info. What do you plan on doing with your heads? I'm assuming leave them stock, since you didn't mention them?
Check your PM's for a better deal than what you mentioned...

I am running that exact setup.
Scat 4340 Forged Crank
Scat 4340 Forged H-Beam Rods
Probe (custom Nitrous Pistons)
I love the kit running in my 383. Produces monster amount of torque and power. Of course there are alot of other things to factor into that. But all in all it is a great piston. If i were to go any other route i would have use Mahle or one other that is slightly above the Probe. According to inside sources Diamond and Probe are using a different process on some new pistons, and under test:
300 Shot for 7 second intervals.
I wish i could get the e-mail i had may call some people and get it again
JE, SRP, and some others all blew at a lower number than the Diamond and Probe. Then Mahle and one other came in on top of the Probe and Diamond. Probe and Diamond blew around same mark. Around or over 300 shots i think.

SpeedRacer I will have some dyno numbers in about 2 weeks for you on my 383 setup. But my cam is a little milder than the 306. I have heard many stories about vacuum issues on the 306...back and forth as to whether it will surge on you or not. Mine is a custom grind. And the person who did my work picked it...he builds some of the fastest NA LS1 6-speeds. If you want my specs e-mail me.
