Stripped 2 threads on crank hub bolt...

Okay it's a long story but I was attempting to turn the crank to line up the dots on the cam/crank sprockets and I stripped the first 2 threads on the crank hub and on the bolt. The bolt is a grade 8 bolt 7/16 x 20 fine thread, 2.75" long. Nobody sells a bolt of that length. They have 2.5" and 3" but nothing inbetween. Where can I buy another bolt??? If I use a bolt of the exact same dimensions is it going to throw my balancing off or should I take a die to cut the threads into the stock bolt??

Also, I only stripped the first two threads. So would it be possible to try to thread in a new bolt and catch fresh threads or do I need to get a tap and tap the first two threads so another bolt will go in.

Please I need to know by tomorrow morning so anybody with experience please chime in!!!

Thanks in advance.

I would use a thread chaser on the crank threads and check a local speed shop for an aftermarket bolt.

I am using a ARP crank bolt with some washer. Unfortunately the washer provided with the ARP bolt can be used because it will not sit down in the hub.
