strange squeeling sound coming from engine

Their is a strange squeeling sound coming from my engine. sounds like it is coming from around my driver side exhaust manifold, it gets worse as my rpms go up and will continue to make that sound tell up to about 45 mph.
after about 4-5 mins the sound will go away and will only show in short spurts under speeds of 40 mph. A video of this sound im sure will help a lot more to describe what im talking about. Anyone know how to post a video?

BTW this car is a completly stock 1994 pontiac firebird formula.

My quick guess would the belt or belt tensioner.

Sounds like a belt to me. You can get some of that belt lubricant and spray it on the belts with the car idleing and see if that helps.

Belt lube isn't a fix, but it's a good troubleshooting tool. If you lube the belt and the sound goes away you know the belt is the problem. It may just be dirty; if not replace it. I've found the lube only works for a couple of days and the squeel will come right back.

That's definitely true. I would spray it on my belts and they would be noisey 3 miles later. Helped identify the problem though.

PS pumps can squeel if their seal goes bad...I hope that isn't it, pretty annoying to replace.

You can usually locate a belt problem with a little water. It changes the sound right away. Tensioner can be checked with a screwdriver and an ear.
