I'm experiencing what I think is a coolant leak whenever my nitrous kicks in. The first time it happened the car was on the dyno and we could see a white fog / smoke over the engine bay, and smell somthing burning. The tech. and I both thought it was a nitrous leak around the nozzle. So I moved the nozzle out of the rubber elbow elbow (replaced it with a cast one) and installed the nozzle in the engine side of the MAF. I tried it out a couple times and it seemed to be fine no smoke no smell, just go. Last week we went to the track , on the first (and only) pass as soon as I engaged the nitrous I could smell that same burning smell and white smoke came from under the hood. Under the hood the only thing I could find was some orange residue on the passenger side valve cover. On the way home from the track my temp went form the normal 170 up almost to the red before I could get off the road. Poped the hood and it looked like someone poured 10 gallons of water under my car. I let it cool for an hour (while I was trying to call a tow truck) and finally filled it back up and blead out the lines. It was fine, drove it on home and it hasnt leaked a drop since. Any ideas ?
I havn't tore it down yet just trying to get ideas if it's the water pump, or what.

 

You need to put a pressure tester on your coolant system and see if you have a leak. It sounds like you might have a head gasket leak into the coolant system. but you never know

 

problem actually turned out to be a clogged coolant overflow tube. was not venting excess pressure out of the system just blowing coolant out of the radiator cap and burning off on the header
