Straight pipes.

Tax money is comming back and I've got my eye on a set of Hooker Long tubes. I live in a fairly rural area so noise is'nt too important. What I am wondering is will this combo be "too loud"

A pair of ceramic coat Hooker long tubes.
3" Y-pipe up front
Single 3" to the back
and another 3 inch y-pipe to exit at the stock locations.
this is on a 97 383. I also know about the O2 sensors and have planned for them as well.

How would this sound in the interior of the car,and how many car alarms will I set off? I'm REALLY worried about resonance inside the car, due to the fact that I use it everyday.

what you are describing is basically a loudmouth exhaust.

it's gonna be loud!

since you ahve a 383, why not step it up a notch and run duals?

or maybe get a mufflex Ypipe with a 3.5" collector and then run 3.5" pipe back than split it...

or just suck it up and buy a mufflex system.

for sound i would check out www.ls1sounds.com granted you have an lt1...but it should give you an idea.

IT'S GONNA BE LOUD!

if your going to run open exhaust, why don't you just run dual bullets or dual straight pipes...would likely be much easier than fabbing all those Y's up.

Just go with dual Bullets. A lot of people think I am running straight pipes, and are shocked when I tell them it's dual dynomax bullets....mainly cause they don't know what Bullets are.

If I open my twin FlowTech cutouts I cant hear in the car and my seats vibrates everytime the exhaust lopes and comes slamming out right underneath my butt.

I know I cant run open headers for more than a few minutes without the cops and neighbors flipping out. I actually set off a couple car alarms in my apartment complex one day when I tried the open header thing.

I want to keep some ground clearance with this setup. I got to thinking about the noise, and have decided to go with a muffler. I can't see myself dealing with that kind of racket as much as I drive the car. I'll prolly go with a flowmaster. Which series is it that does'nt create the interior resonance?
