Stock valve covers, 1.6 ratio rockers, and baffling....

Even after doing numerous things to the baffling inside the stock valve covers....

I am not pleased with the clearance of the baffling to the roller rockers.

Has anyone completely gutted the baffling inside the valve cover? Will it have any strength issues if I do this? New valve covers are expensive IMHO, and I'd just assume use the stock ones if I can gut them and use the stock bolts to hold them in place......

Just thinking about it....the baffling may serve to "locate" the valve cover and keep it from moving....it may not be a strength issue with the cover.....

So how bout this.....can we use the LT4 composite valve cover studs and nuts after gutting the stock stamped steel valve cover?

Try cutting them, I dont see why its a problem. If you screw them up PM me. I have two sets of valve covers.

I did not like the clearance when I tried to do it to mine, either. Ended up with LT4 covers.
If you remove all the webbing, it will allow the cover to collapse a little bit and it may not seal so well.

LOL, how much for a pair? Are they in good condition? I have a feeling I may screwing mine up....

I may attempt to gut them and try to stud them like the LT4 covers....that should prevent any collapsing, but I think the baffling does help transmit the force of the bolt to the sides of the cover which allow it to seal. There could be a leaking issue....

However I'm going to have to do something because it is to tight for my taste.

Those looked like the ones I have now(same baffling)...only chromed and with the wrong size breather hole for the stock grommet(passengers side).

I love the looks of those things, but they are going for around $120 a cover!!!

Shoebox, did you have to do anything to the LT4 covers? They fit fine without any modification correct?

$25.00 plus shipping. Send me a zip.
I have two sets. One set is clearanced for rockers and the other set is untouched. Both sets have been hot tanked and could use a fresh paint job if you are picky on appearance.

$35.00 plus shipping and I will bead blast them clean for you too.
Send me a PM if interested.

Lt4 covers should fit with no modding. I have the LT1 composite covers which do require modding. You have to cut out the drip tabs to clear the rockers and poly locks. The two covers are the same in terms of deminsions. These covers are super expensive now. I paid $200 for mine.
