Stock Stall + cam

Will I need to upgrade to a bigger stall when i upgrade camshafts? I've already got the cam sitting here, finally settled on something slightly smaller then the 847.
Comp Xtreme 233/239 .569/.577 112ls

Will the stock stall work for say, three weeks to a month until I can get a vigilante put in?

Yeah it'll work just fine. You won't get the full potential of the cam until you get a stall though. If all goes well, in a month your gonna be very very happy.

Ye it will work fine but you wont have no launch what so ever but if i were you i would go with at least a 3200 stall with that cam because if you go to low you want have enough launch but if you go to big your converter will be loose meaning that all youll do if you go to big on a converter is that youll be in a high power band of Horsepower so youll just spin your azz off.OH AND BY THE WAY WHEN EVER YOU GET YOUR CAR TUNED AND GO TO THE TRACK PLEASE POST OR EMAIL ME OR SOMETHING BECAUSE I WOULD LIKE TO NO WHAT KIND OF RESULTS YOU GET WITH THAT CAM.

I'm settled on a vig 2800. I have 3.73 gears, hopefully that will help a bit. And yes, it'll be tuned. Hope to have everything done by the middle of march for the spring shootout here.

Spinner,
Don't forget a shift kit, or the shifts are going to be very soft. That and a nice trans cooler if you don't already have one.

You may have some vaccum issues. If so, you arent going to have much in the way of brakes. A 2800 also seems a little small for that cam. I have a 3600 and its very streetable. you may want to go to at least a 3200

I'd rather not deal with anything over 3000 because I don't want to go to OBDII

I do understand that bigger cams lower engine vacuum, but I never understood exactly why, and I don't see how the stall has anything to do with it at any rate

Ideally, you'd want your stall speed to be somewhere near your peak engine torque RPM.

Which makes sense, but again, 3000's my limit because of OBD1.

Just go the highest your willing to go and you'll be happy. You might not get the full potential of the cam but you'll be pretty dang close. Anything is better than nothing. BTW I have a Vig. 3000rpm and had no problems with the OBD1. I've heard of people going with 3200-3400 and not having problems but they're few and far between. 3000rpm was my limit also. I'm highly satisfied. I don't have a cam yet though.

I'm still running the hotcam/AFRs on stock stall. Not happy about but stock will work. Only if the weather will cooperate, the Vigil 3000 sitting in the garage will go in.
