stock short blocks limits ???
stock short blocks limits ???
i have been doing a lot of reading on this site(newbie to the gm world), and after seeing some of the numbers everyones combo's are putting down, i am starting to wander what the limitations of the stock shortblock are.... i am going to be looking at heads/cam, as well as supporting mods, and am seriously considering nitrous. i was planning on running a 150 shot, but dont know if this would be too much. from what i gather the car should put down from 440-475 RWHP on the juice. my car has about 50k miles right now, so should i put a built shortblock on my list, or will my stocker hold up alright? i will only be spraying the car every once in a while, at track events..but not often, but dont want to do it if i am going to blow something up. thanks for whatever help u guys can give me
Re: stock short blocks limits ???
I always told myself that I wouldn't spray the stock shortblock unless I had money for a rebuild. We have guys on here running 400+ rwhp head/cam packages on the stock bottom end, a handful of them are spraying on top of that.
I think you'll be fine with your expectation of 440-475 rwhp on the stock internals, just make sure you get it to a dyno with a wideband so you can get everything in order before beating on it.
