Stock radiator POS?

Looking for a way to beef up the cooling of my stroker so I figured after 10 years replacing the stock rad would be a good idea. So I order a new one from GM and look at it closely before installing it. The hose neck on the passenger side is almost totally blocked by the transmission cooler in the side tank. It looks like it will significantly reduce coolant flow. So I figure I'd try ordering a rad for a stick car without the tranny cooler (I already have a large aux cooler with fan) but find it's the same part?!

Then I remember GMPP had a racing rad for stick cars and tried to order that, but it is discontinued.

So now what options do I have? I can't afford a Griffin or BeCool rad and don't like how the stock rad has such a large flow obstruction. Any ideas? I want something that will allow me to keep my air conditioning but has better cooling capacity.
