Stock LT1 Pistons
Stock LT1 Pistons
What HP are they good to? I'm building a new motor:
-Lloyd Elliot Heads
-XE 230/236
-Bolt Ons
I bought a set of LT1 rods and they came with pistons. I know the PM rods are good to ~450hp. The block I've got doesn't need reboring and I was thinking of just slapping the LT1 stuff in there. Whatca think? Remember, we're talking ultimate budget here.
NOTE: The rods/pistons have 26k on them. Out of a 1996.

I'm not real sure on the exact rating but they are hypereutectic, meaning they are stronger than normal cast pistons but not as strong as a forged set.
They should be fine as long as you don't put a big shot of N20 on it or have a bunch of really bad knock.

Don't know what they are rated for but rebalancing may be nessacary depending on what crank you are using.

Sweet, if they're in good condition, looks like they're going in!
I plan on having the rods redone with ARP bolts and possbily having the entire assembly balanced so I'll have them checked at the same time. I won't be running any N20. Nothing but Natural Aspiration baby...
