Stock LT1, Hooker LTs, no tuning: will it kill the cats?
Hey guys. I'm just about ready to install my Jet-Hot LTs along with a custom y-pipe and dual carsound 3" cats. Other than CAI, tb-bypass, and LT4KM the car is 100% stock. Can I run this configuration on the stock PCM tune for a while without killing the new catalytic converters? I would like to enjoy the exhaust system now if I can and do the PCM tuning later in the winter after I do a cam/heads install.
EDIT: My LTs have the emissions hook-ups, so I'm keeping EGR and AIR. It's just that I've heard others mention that a stock LT1 on the stock PCM runs slightly rich after doing a LT install. So, that's why I'm asking you guys to verify whether it'll kill my cats.

The only reason you need a tune with headers as far as I know is to remove the EGR and AIR checks from the computer since most people remove those systems when installing headers.
I don't think you're going to hurt the cats by running them on the stock program, because you really haven't changed anything that would hurt them anyway.
I might be wrong though.
