Stock cam, will I max it out??? Help!

Just today we picked up my wifes Z28 from the transmission shop. We had a TCI 3000 stall installed. What a dramatic difference in the car!! It has gone from mild to wild in just a few hours. But now I have a concern and need some advice. Over the winter I picked up a set of 3:42 gears off a friend. I had planned on installing them in her car this spring. But now I am worried that I am going to max out the stock cam with the converter and gears. My thinking is that between the converter and gears she will reach her redline to soon. In other words, she's stopped at a light, hammers it, and only gets going 20 or 30 feet and she is topped out in 1st gear. I'm probably just being paranoid, but it is something that I want to have clarified before I install the gears. FYI, there are no plans to do any more dramatic changes to her car is the forseeable future. So the stock cam, heads, intake, etc will be on the car for probably as long as we own it. So the only other changes this spring will be a roll bar (our track as a cut-off of 13.99 for convertibles, ran a 14.0 last year) and maybe a CAI. Other than that nothing else is planned for this car anytime soon. So am I being an idiot when it comes to the gears, or will it actually max out the stock cam in her car?? Thanks for any and all help.

I can't help you with that because I don't have a stall or gears but I just wanted to say that if you haven't gotten a tranny cooler yet get one soon so you don't mess the tranny.

Nah, I drove a friend's car with a 3500 and 3.73s, and it was fine. 3.42 is not that steep of a gear, still a highway gear IMO. 4.10+ on an auto is where you get into much higher rpms, but that's just on the highway. Mine's an M6, but I run 4.11s every day, and I'm maxing out 4th gear at 108-112, but then again, I rev to 6400.
