The Stock Bottom end.

How worried about my stock bottom end should I be? My car is now approacing 97k (96,912 as it sits) and I plan on doing a heads/cam upgrade in the near future. If the stock bottom end goes, it goes, but shouldn't it still be good for some abuse? I don't know if I'm asking for blood from a stone here but I'm curious as to what some of you will say.

Re: The Stock Bottom end.

Well, it all depends. My engine developed a rod knock at 81,000 miles. That was a on stock internal motor that hadn't been tampered with.

Others put on heads/cam/spray way past 110K and have no issues.

Re: The Stock Bottom end.

I installed a 6# Vortech blower on my stock bottom end at 92K miles. Lasted until 108K miles and then I took out 6 ring lands .
