Stock Bottom, Big Cam Guys!!

236/242 .608/.572 on 111 LSA......Is anyone running a similar cam as this in their NA Stock Bottom-end Lt1??? I posted the list of mods i plan on running with this car but im not sure if this is the right cam for me because there is more lift on the intake than the exhaust. You can see the listhere if interested. I called up combination motors and they said they have never seen a NA lt1 running this kind of cam. It seems as if the guy had plans of running a turbo or something with his application, hence the need for more lift on the intake than exhaust. Does anyone have any input on how they think this cam will perform in my car or do you think i should just try to sell this cam and get a new custom grind for my app? Any input will be helpful.

I would like to make 425+ RWHP with the mods described .

Thanks,
Brandon

The biggest I'd go on a stock bottom end is the GM 847. You may make 425rwhp with that cam you're looking at, but you'd probably have to take the motor to 7k or past to get the most out of it, something I wouldn't do. Unless you spun the motor to 7k or so, the GM 847 or CC306 would probably yield better times.

The cam isn't that bad for N/A,you Will have to turn it on up though. I would like to see more than.034(.050 min) before coil bind. And is the lift figure WITH 1.6 rocker's.If not there will be a big bang.If the cam matches the heads that's good.It is not unusual to see more lift on the intake on a Chevy.Ya gotta get air/fuel in to make power and the exaust is pretty good on a Chevy and don't need as much valve action.
Remember the air track is a system from the filter to the piston.Remove as many cork's as possible and let her breathe.
IE.the standard K&N cone filter 6" long most run flows 700CFM a touch to small.

The lift figures are with 1.6rrs. I know this question has come up many times but who would you guys recommend to get some extensive intake P&P done. I would be able to take most of the bulk off of the intake myself and lose most of the restriction, but i would rather pay someone who REALLY knows there stuff with porting the lt1 intake because i feel there is alot of restriction involved with this intake. And since i plan to get everything that i can out of my future streetable lt1 set-up, i am willing to pay that little extra money. Afterall why spend the amount of money i did on my Cmotors heads and not be able to use them to their potential?? I have heard Joe O, Musser, or Brent (possibly with his new intake hes working on), or anyone else i dont know about since i am fairly new to this forum. Someone lead me in the right direction please!!

Also a few more Q's:

Will vacuum be a problem since its a daily driver?

Where do you think i should shift at? (I probably wont take it to the track every weekend or anything, just like once a month probably, and whenever i see a car i want to smoke)

Will a 52mm TB be enough or should i go with the 58mm llike i had planned?

Thanks to all that replies, you guys dont know how much help you really are to me

I would go with Bret's solution if he says it will work.I have run 10-11"Hg with power brakes, pulling a big boat with no issues. There is not enough there to inch up in trafic with repeated braking but a vacuun can will help that.I would go with the 58MM(1000CFM) but get hold of Bret and see what will work with his new setup. He may want to see a 1300CFM????

CC306 is a 230/244/112 and the 847 is a 232/242/112, that cam isnt much bigger if at all and is going to behave similar to a CC306 or a 847.

Yeah but the 847 and 306 are kinda on the hairy edge of being too big on a stock bottom end to take full advantage of. A cam with 5 or 6 more degrees on duration on the intake side and .015" more of lift is gonna make it too big IMO unless you have an all forged rotating assembly that will handle 7500 rpm reliably.

You'll be fine with that cam on a stock bottom end. That's not too big at all. I'm 244/252, .594/.612, 108 on mine.
