it would definetly bring in more air....but id rather spend 200 bucks on a CAI than a couple grand on an engine rebuild....no filter, especially with the scoop, will be vulnerable to all the crap laying in the road that you may suck up....leaves, rocks, sticks=engine death

jsut leave it the way it is,
the stock airbox doesnt flow that bad.

in fact on the dyno with the airbox open and no filter it gave no difference besides the extra noise.

The filter isn't gonna make much difference, it's the routing/tubing that makes a hp difference. And it sounds like a good way to suck up a rock into a cylinder and have it clanking around in there until something finally breaks.

If you want a cheap CAI just look around at Lowe's for awhile, you'll find something that will work, even if it doesn't look very pretty. It's what I did when I had my v6 camaro.

you may want to do a bit more research before you start firing your mouth off...ram air is next to non-existent so the whole use of a "ram air scoop" does what exactly? the stock maf only accepts a certain amount of air so the "scoop" isn't providing more air...cooler air maybe? not so much...

so go ahead and do your little ram air scoop 'mod' so you can put a sticker on your car claiming so...
