Are stock 3.42's enough for cc306??

Or should I get 4.10's first?

If you can tune the car 3.42s are fine, I haven't replaced my gearset yet. If your tuning is a bit off though or torque is missing, dont expect to use 6th gear without breaking the law.

Yeah, you can keep your stock gears. I'm running a pcm4less tune, with the stock gears and the 306. I can still run 55mph in 6th gear, no problem. The only problem I have...and I don't think this is gear related...is that my car jerks and surges when I'm sitting right at 1600-1700rpms. Anywhere else, it drives fine. Guess I'll have to try VEmaster.

Those should be fine, but then again if u think about it, 3.73's may not be worth the jump, so you have the right idea, either keep yours or go with 4.10's.

Theres people with both..

I could do low RPM with a big cam too, but I dont like the idea at all. If we had L98s that were doing 440 RWTQ or something that might be different. I want to make sure I have some oil pressure going, and with that in mind I'd go for some gears eventually or run in 5th gear when traffic gets crappy.

I could drive my car with the 3.42 and a cam, but I was always yearning for gears.

1.) You have to slip the clutch more to get a smooth standing start on the street with 3.42.

2.) Steeper gears put you into the powerband of the cam quicker than the 3.42's.

I drove with a couple of different cams on the 3.42 gearing without headache but I'm glad I finally worked up the courage to install the 4.11's. I will say that proper tuning helped immensely with those standing starts. Now I just constantly worry about breaking the 4.11's
