still showing low voltage... help
try a new belt. one time my belt got fried and i was only pushing like 8 volts and i thought i broke my car. new belt and it jusmped right back up. this was on an 86 blazer but hey it could still apply here.
Green Demon, thanks for info man. I took off the ignition switch off an old '82 Z28 that I used for spare parts when I had my '84 Z28. Now my volts is a tad below between the half mark and 3 quarter mark, and she starts a lot faster. Maybe when I get a brand new switch and finish cleaning my connections maybe it will be even better.
The switch off the '82 Z28 was pretty much the same. The connections matched up perfect. One question though what is the black cable thing that bolts to the end of the switch. The one off the '82 didn't have no place for this.
My94blackz or anyone else experiencing low voltage maybe you should try a new ignition switch. Thanks again everyone that answered.

According to shoebox's website (one of the best sites for 4th gen lt1 folks) that connector is the auto tranny park/lock cable. I'm not really sure what it does, but I'm guessing it's a safety measure of some sort.
-GM should really make those switches better, seeing how it is so important to performance and reliability. I wish I had taken some pictures when I did my replacement, I took the old switch apart and there were springs and pins allover the place! No wonder the thing was crapping out.
For those that are wondering if theirs might be going out:
-Low voltage
-Hard starting
-No starting (will not crank at all, cycle again starts just fine)
-Problems with turning the key (feels like something is broken in the lock- every time I tried to use the acc position I could feel all the parts rearranging themselves when I turned the key back to the on position...)
-I didn't have this problem, but in severe situations I guess the vehicle could die suddenly while driving
-Also if you encounter a no start situation all the electrical power in the car should go out- the only thing on for me was the radio (retained accessory power)
