still leaking oil...

well I was in an accident and I work by the collision shop, so when the whole front end was off I decided to fix my oil leak...

I thought it was the TC seals and I proceeded to disassemble. I got it apart and didn't see that the TC seals were leaking, I loosened the TC and loosened the OP and when the TC came off so did the front part of the OP gasket...great

I got a Felpro OP gasket and after lowering the K-member a bit I got the pan out and cleaned it. (btw. 113,000 mobil 1 always since new, looks like 25,000 in there and not a bit of muk on the bottom of the pan) I got the OP back in place and reinstalled the TC and all the new seals. I haven't got ant miles on it yet or upto temp but it appears to still be leaking right out of the oil pan TC cover arc in front! wtf!

any ideas? RTV?

Did you use any RTV in the first place? What kind of gasket, rubber or cork? If you didn't put RTV on there already I would recommend it.

I always have used RTV in all 4 corners as well as on the front and rear lips. Not a whole lot just a small bead. From what I have learned these cars are more prone to leaking than most vehicles I have owned or came across.

Yes. Also guys these pans are very sensitive to how much torque and how you torque them. If you just kinda snugged up all the way around they are much more likely to leak. Always go from the inside out.

The water pump drive seal is notorious for leaking if its not installed correctly (with tool) ~ its kinda deceptive too in that the outside of the seal look fine but the inner lip is damaged/broken during improper installation (Don't ask me how I know this )

Put RTV on it. No need to use a lot, just smear it on with your finger. I used black RTV on mine.

looks like its a seal from behind the distributor...

so its the WP or OPTI seal. Great now its got to come apart again!!!!!! damn

The worst part of this is that I took it apart because of a oil leak and now its worse...

Tighten the front 2 bolts a little more. It worked for my blue fel-pro oil pan gasket with no rtv.
