I replaced my unvented opti not too long ago and from what I seen I don't think you can put it on the wrong way the way the splines go it just won't slide on. Throwing any codes?

Not as far as I know. I have a laptop, but no scanning software to use. The service engine light pretty much stays on, because the car wont start right now.

Did you check the valve to piston clearance?? The only way you would bend pushrods is contact between the two. Or your springs are coil binding. Do the compression test to make sure the intake valves aren't bent or holding open.
The opti may be the no fire to #3 but if the wires are right the only thing to cause it to backfire in the intake is open or bent valves.
