Starting on my heads/cam swap later today, here are the details!!

I have had a few posts lately that included pics and flow numbers of my heads, and the day has finally come to install them. When I get home from school this afternoon, a friend and myself are gonna pull alot of the stock stuff off, and then leave the more advanced stuff to my installer/friend that will be over tomorrow morning. We then are gonna start working on the car tomorrow morning at about 5am, and then work sat until the car runs. Then on sunday my uncle is gonna come down and help my dad and I with the 3in custom built y-pipe. But here are the details of the install and the parts going in.

--Home ported heads with 2.00/1.56 Race flow valves, Comp 987 spings set up at 1.770, titainum retainers, locks etc, ARP 7/16 rocker arm studs and GM pushrod guide plates, .039 Felpro Head hasket. Heads flowed 265/192 @.600 with 28" water on a SF-600 flow bench
--Comp XE236/242 .555/.576 on a 112
--Crane 10530 Hydraulic roller lifters
--Comp Pro Magnum Roller Rockers(7/16)
--ThunderRacing Chrome moly stock length pushrods
--Fully ported and polished Intake
--30LB SVO injectors
--ThunderRacing OTVC plug wire kit
--New GM water pump
--New GM opti spark
--LT4 Extreme Duty timing set w/oversized crank sprocket
--Hooker Long tube headers
--Comp Vacuum canister
--tons and tons of gaskets(for each gasket, I bought an extra one)
--BMR Driveshaft safety loop
--new GM coolant line that goes to the back of head(this will save a lot of trouble)
---There is aot of other small stuff, but the parts on this list are the main parts for the install.

--Tuning---I got a base tune from PCMforLESS, and then had a friend modify it for me because Bryan changed things in the program that I dont even have mods for. The car will be dynotuned a week from sat on March 15th, and hopefully it will pull some good numbers. A friend of mine and a member of this board will be doing ALL the tuning on my car.

--On March 30th, the car will go to Billingsey Racing for a custom fit/bent chrome moly 6 point roll bar. It will have swing out/removable side bars, bar behind seat will be custom bent and removable. (My parents recomended that I buy this per their safety concerns)

--Sooner or later, when the tranny goes, it will have an FLP Level 4 4L60E.

Well I will update the post tonight after we quit for the night, and then tomorrow in the afteroon or when we get the car going. Does anyone have any preliminary rwhp numbers for this setup??

Brian

Is that going in a stroker or a stock shortblock?
383=400+HP
350=390+

A removable rear bar is not NHRA legal, if you plan on drag racing it quicker than 11.99.

im not trying to imply anything here, but i dont think you how big that cam is. that cam is way to big for that stock shortblock.

i at one time was going to use that cam but when i did some reading and research, and then talked to people that had it. i decided to go smaller. i talked to one guy that had it in a stock bottom end. and he said i couldnt drive it (and it was an M6). so he just parked it untill he saved for 383. and now loves the cam. he said that 383 tamed the cam out alot.

not trying to discourage you, but just trying to give you a heads up.

and tunning is going to be a pain.

what lsa is it on.

i hope you have good flow numbers at a low lift on those heads.

If you re-read his post, it's on a 112 LSA. If you wish you can check his flow numbers in this post: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...threadid=81782

I'll guess 360 rwhp, due to homeported heads and auto/converter loss.

Sounds like a good plan you have there. Keep us posted on how it turns out. One question...Why the "Comp Vacuum canister"?

Brakes. Keeps the vacuum pressure up. Don't worry everyone, we'll have pics and hopefully videos for you to see.
