starting isues

ok so i was driving my car today and all of a sudden it started to over heat. so i pull into a gas station let it cool down, put water in it and see where the temp is at. its back to normal so i start it up and its fine. starts fine and everything. there was a little white smoke out of the tail pipe but it went away after a few seconds. now 5 hours later i go to start my car and it wont crank. it makes a LOUD *** noise as if the starter is messed up. sounds kinda like dragging a metal pipe across concrete. so my question is, could it be related to the overheating or just maybe the starter went out? any input will be greatly appreciated

Re: starting isues

Sounds like your starter is toast. Mine did the exact same thing once and it turned out it was dragging horribly. Don't think it's because of the car overheating though. Probably just a bad coincidence.
