Starting Issues If Car sits More that 24 Hrs

Has happend a few times now. Car was parked Friday night, and then was attempted to start Sunday night, and no go. She is turning over, but not fully to the point where it's started. Starter is working, Accessories work ETC. and once and a while it will sound like it's about to start, but usually no go. (Crank, Crank, about 5 or 6 times, the put, put, ) 1st time it did this, I plugged in my block heater, and turned on some heat in the garage for about 20-25 mins. Came out, and it started, but was pretty rough. last two times this happened now, if I hit the gas at one of the times it's about to start, she'll fire up, but like the last time, very rough. And will idle rough for about 20-30 seconds afterwards. other that tahat no issues with the car. Tested fuel pressure, which was OK. Tried priming the fuel system a few times before start, no difference. Fuel filter just changed about 8 months ago. I do have the inmamous <2000 RPM stumbe when my A/C or heat is on, but other than that, or when the car is warm, or hasn't been sitting more than about 24hrs, it starts up just fine? Where should I start? I'm thinking battery or coil.?

Will it start with the gas pedal to the floor when you turn the key?

Never tried, and can't try now, because it's working fine this morning. Did hold it down before starting once, (Incase I flooded it) but never kept it down while starting.

If you had leaky injectors it would cause a hard cold start. Putting the pedal to the floor causes a clear flood condition.

Is there a way I can test the injectors for leakage? I did the fuel pressure test like I said, and all was fine there. I did not however check on a cold start. Also, how long and at what value should the system be pressurized for after shutting off the car? A considerable drop in a short amt of time, would show leakage, would it not?

Yes, a drop over a fairly short period of time would. The best method I have heard of is to try to start the car, so the pump builds its pressure, then to go actually lift up the whole fuel rail and look at each injector for leakage.

I've heard of cases where the discharge check valve in the fuel pump will slowly fail and bleed of the fuel rail pressure over a short period of time and there isn't sufficient fuel pressure in the system to start immediately. I'd put a fuel pressure gauge on it and check it when it fails/starts to see if it's the problem. Just a thought

Pressure wise evrything seems fine. I think. What is a normal amount of loss after turning it off? After almost an hour, it dropped down to about 20PSI from about 41 PSI. Is this normal?

It sounds pretty good to me...Altough, can you smell raw fuel around the car, or when you open the TB blades?

Have you had your battery checked? It could be going bad, and a draw as little as your alarm could drain just enough to give you trouble if it sits too long.

That's something I was thinking, cuz everything else seems fine. Is there a way to test a battery for amperage without taking it in somewhere? Also would a dead battery still allow it to crank, but not fire up?

its not your battery. If it was the car wouldn't crank. Your starter takes WAY more amperage to run than the ignition system (or anything else for that matter)
