Starting issues, hesitation problems, need help

See my mods i the sig, when i ry and start my car, it cranks and cranks and will never start, tun the key to off, crank it again, and tap the gas a little and it will barely start, then it runs like a mustang(real slow, and hesitant. when i shut it off and let it sit for like 5 minutes, and then try and start it , it barely starts, and then i heve to sit there and keep revving it because it just stumbles and backfires and missfires, after about 3 minutes of doing this i can finally drive it, without it dying. but it still runs bad. when it is stumbling and popping, and missfiring, if i let it die, it wont even start for like 25 minutes.
i am so confused.
I have a exhaust leak from my passenger manifold, causing the o2 to throw a code, but im getting headers and tuning within the week.

I have never replaced the coil and i have 170,000 miles, after it starts it doesnt missfire so i dont think it is the opti, just replaced fuel pump also.
thanks for all help

Did you line up the timing marks(6-clock for the cam sprocket and 12-clock for the crank sprocket) when you put the timing chain on...

So you have replaced the orignal opti or does your car have low miles? The problem sounds like timing and if the car ran fine after the cam install then the opti could be the problem. Do you have any codes?

opti has 20,000 miles, have an o2 sensor 2 bank 2 code, 2 crankshaft position sensor codes, i was told a bad opti could throw those codes, but i know i lined up the cam and crank right, its also cc-305 for the cam

I would check the opti ... Has the water pump gone out on you in those last 20,000 miles or when you bled the coolant system after the cam change did you let coolant drip on the opti? I don't know much about the crank sensor on your car but other members can help you out in that area....

IMO i am going to say opti but get another opinion before you change it.. The too long dowel pin will cause damage to the opti...

Maybe adress all of the codes it is throwing? A bad 02 can cause some sewrious hesitation issues. I popped an exhaust gasket and the car barely ran...

but once it starts it runs, but getting it to start is tough, i think ill try repacing coil first, solely because its the stock one at 170,000 miles
