Starter - Stock or Aftermarket replacement?

Starter just took a crap on me. I dont have to many options being in Canada here. Cant find any good aftermaket starter here. (Summit or CRV) I was quoted $150 U.S. for a stock replacement form Part Source. But I would really rather go aftermarket, and not have to wait ten years for it to get to me, or pay for to much shipping. Anyone know where else I can try?

I hear good things about the lt4 mini starter...It's smaller and lighter than your stock starter, and it should last a long time. I think it's also cheaper than your stock starter....

Definitely get the corvette starter. Do a search on this to get more info.

I used to have starting problems especially with the battery moved to the back. The corvette starter starts the car so good now. It is a better and stronger peice, and cheaper as well. Get it from Jason Cromer for about $140.

It's a must have esp if you need to replace your old one any way.

cheers

Might go that way. Does it sound any different than the LT1 stock starter. Dumb question I know, but its the little things that count

I have an LT4 starter sitting in my garage that is for sale. Never been used. It will not fit with the LT's. If you want it, PM me, I will let it go cheap.

IRABUss, what is the difference between the Vette starter and the LT4 starter? I may be interested.

LT4 starter is a bit smaller, as for weight I dont know, starters are heavy and thats how it is. It has no guide for the solenoid to hit, which is the part of the housing that cracked (by itself it seems) on my LT1 starter. I know someone else on the sight had thier housing crack mysteriously too.

Its also the LT1 Vette starter, works fine for me, I'm using stock bolts too.

The LT4 starter is a vette starter, is it not? Also I do have FLP long Tubes, so am I going to have the same issue in getting an LT4 starter to fit? I havn't heard of any issues until now. Being smaller, you think it would fit better....? And I have heard they are a bit lighter.

Just call Jason Cromer; he already knows which starter and part number. Part#10455709

This fit just fine with my Jet-hot hooker LT with 3" y-pipes.

The sounds is the same except it just starts right up, no more occasional tick-tick-tick-roommm

cheers

I have the CVR starter and I love it. Its adjustable for just about any header. I just mocked up my Headman headers and they fit great! CVR starter needed to be rotated a bolt hole or two. But I only had to grind about 1/2 inch from the starter and it fit right up!!
