Starter motor / solenoid wires.

Can anyone tell me WHERE the black wire is suposse to connect to the stater motor solenoid. There are two posts to which I think it is suppose to attach.

Anyone able to give me some tips on making the right connection?

Thanks Mate.

I figured I'd take my chances and attached the small black wire to the side of the post that goes TO the starter from the solenoid.

That seemed to do the trick. My brand new motor turned over a few revs but then the battery died. LOL.

Oh, you were talking about the small black wire. It goes on a stud mounted on the block. As long as you give it a ground, it should be ok.

Thanks Shoebox. I currently have it going to the post from the solenoid to the starter.

I previously HAD it going to the bolt that holds the dipstick but nothing happened when I turned the key.

Now that it is connected to the solenoid it turned over. Do I have it in the wrong spot.

Also Shoebox, how did you get pictures so easily and quickly.

That is VERY generious of you to go to the effort.

Charging the battery now and crossing my fingers that I can get it started.

Thanks a million Shoebox. Quite literally your photo was a life saviour.

I had mistakenly placed the little black wire on the starter and I could not get the car to see a spark.

I later found that I had blown a fuse in the raley box.

Your picture saved the day. Relocated the wire to ground, turned it over and it came alive. At least for a while. I have a new FAST computer and we could not get it to start after a few tries but no matter.

Thanks a million, I would have been completely lost without that picture.
