starter issue

starter issue

i have a 94 z28 and i just did a 6 spd swap in it and my question is after the swap it is slower turning over now and does it really bad when the car is hot...do i need a 6 spd starter or are they the same? or do i need to shim it?
any help will be appreciated thanks

Did you remove the starter during the swap? if so check voltage at starter cable (the big one that goes to the battery). Check your battery voltage. It should stay above 10 volts when cranking. Try putting a jumper cable from your negative battery post to any metal part on the engine. A good spot is the bare aluminum alternator bracket. Then crank. If it cranks faster, your engine block to ground strap is missing or damaged.
