Starter?????????

Sup guys...if its not one thing its another. I don't know what this is, I thought starters went out slowly. Anyway, got in my car and went to a friends house. Hung out a lil while then jumped back in to go to work. Turn the key and absolutely nothing. I mean nothing. No click or tick from the starter. All my lights are on and the gauge says I got at least 12 volts in there. Do starters go out at once or is this some other problem?

Don't get it..... hasn't done it again. Kinda weird. Guess I'll jack it up tomorrow and look under it.

ok. time to test teh starter.. jack up the car and get under there with a testlight or a meter.

withe the key on engine off look for battery + voltage on the large red wire at the starter. do you have that?

withe the light or meter check for a good ground on the body of the starter. do you have that?

unhook the small seliniod wire (I think it;s the purple one)
look for hot while someone is holding the key in the crank posotion.
