I started storing the Z earlier this year, Labor Day weekend to be exact, the first time I had a chance to start it was last weekend. When I first started it, it started and then died. Same thing happened again. Third time I started it and gave it some gas and it was alright. As soon as it started idling it started shaking like crazy. I let it run for a good 10 minutes to warm it up and the whole time it shook like hell. So, I preceded to drive it down the street. It was very under powered and as soon as it started to idle it started shaking again. I immediately turned around and parked it. A little while later I started it again, same thing, shaking like crazy. My guess would be spark plugs, simply because this kind of sounds like the symptoms. I've had the car since November of 2000 and have put 21,000 miles on it. The spark plugs haven't been changed during this time. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much-Jon

 

Just sounds like a mis-fire (or lack of fire on one cylinder). Probably a plug or a wire. Make sure they're all plugged in....

but yeah, you probably need new plugs too.

I plan on keeping the Z in storage until after school, meaning the beginning of summer. I plan on getting this problem fixed before then. Is there anything I should do since it's going to be sitting for a prolonged time? I'm going to start it everytime I'm back home, if that won't be for an extended period of time, I might have to explain to my mom how to start it. Anything in particular I should do?
