Started car after pacesetter install without O2's hooked up....

I got the Pacesetter LT's all installed with true duals and all that good stuff. The only thing I'm waiting for now is the oxygen sensor extensions.

BUT I just couldnt wait til Monday for them to arrive...I had to start the car and see how it sounded, even without the O2's connected...I expected for it to run good for a few seconds then have an SES light come on and then enter safe mode, but it seemed to run fine

I ended up starting the car a few times, the longest being no more than a minute. I could smell gas from the exhaust bad, but I figure thats just from not having Cats anymore.

The car is a 1996 Z28 with an OBDI conversion, so I dont need the rear O2's, I'm only talking about the front ones being disconnected.

Is this normal for the car to run without them? Explain to me if I did anything bad or just anything! All input welcome. Thanks.

Yeah, it's normal. I had to run my car for a few days with them unplugged while I was waiting on new ones.

Yup, 14.7:1 A/F ratio, and no way to compensate for any changes.

OK that makes sense because the car was running descent, but you could tell something was wrong. (it tried to stall when I would take off)

The output from the O2 sensors are ignored until the PCM goes into closed loop which is usually ~3:30 after a cold start.
