Unhappy stainless works y-pipe from sumitt :(

Well I have to vent, It took us 6 hours to install the stainless works y-pipe, had to cut quite a bit of the lip off the trans crossmember , had to take a socket and put a dent in the y-pipe to clear the crossmember mounting bolts, And the fit was horrible, Ended up buying a set of hooker collector extensions to use instead of the collector extensions that came with it, The thing that makes me mad is I specifically asked how the fit was and the sales guy went on and on about the quality of stainless works y-pipes
I called sumitt and they wont take the y-pipe back cause we had to put a dent in the y-pipe to make it fit, and it is hitting the bottom of the car on the drivers side.
To top it off the car was on a lift so I could just imagine what it would take to do this on jackstands.
I am very dissapointed in the product, I wish I just would have had FLP make me a y-pipe, Well I guess you live and learn.
So bottom line is I wasted two hundred bucks, I called sumitt and complained, They didnt seem to care, I even told them that some coupons would make me happy and they refused to send any.
This sucks!

Sorry about your troubles man. When I first saw those Stainless works Y-pipes in their catalog I sorta raised an eyebrow. I heard they weren't the best quality from another person who had a hell of a time getting his in.

Don't we have a member on this board who works at Summit?
You can't blame Summit for refusing to accept a return on a product that you damaged but it does make them look bad to be selling a product of poor quality which is what this sounds like.

I would NEVER give Summit my business. I know a few people that have bought their products and have had nothing but nightmares with them.

One friend of mine bought a set of gears, and when he received them, they were chipped! His mechanic advised him that he bought used gears.

The other one bought one of their "quality" performance motors, and it blew up the 2nd time out on the road. When he brought his car to his mechanic, he was told that the engine looked like it was slapped together by a chimpanzee and he was suprised it even lasted long enough to drive it a 2nd time. The motor had less than 250 miles on it, and NONE of them were from racing at the track.

To top it off, Summit refused to send him a replacement motor, or refund his money.

(_l_) to Summit and their products.
