Stainless Works Y-pipe

I bought the Stainless works Y-pipe to go with my Hooker Long tubes. I cannot for the life of me get them to mate up the the Headers. PLEASE HELP!

The Y is a 4 peice set that has the actual Y, then 2 collectors on one corner peice. I put the short peice on the driver side with the corner extension and a collector, bolts up pretty good. Then to connect the passanger side, the collector goes into the Y and ends up about 1 3/4" off of center.

The pipe is part # STW-CA937HKS http://www.summitracing.com/catalogs...rapr/270f.html

I am getting close to ording someone elses pipe.

I called stainless works and they told me that I may have to cut one of the pieces to make it fit... WTF???? And they did verify that the 2nd pipe sent to me fit in their mold perfectly (first one did not) but they bolt up the same... Oh and mine doesn't look quite like the one in the url above. If it did, I think it would fit. The passanger side bend on the Y doesn't seem to be bent out as far as the one in the picture.

oh and 96 LT1 camaro with Hooker long tubes and off road stainless works y-pipe

um...send it back...

how exactly would you like us to help? tell you what you pretty much already know...that you'll have to cut it?

see what a muffler shop says about it?

Send it back...that should be a bolt-on to the headers with no issues...because the y-pipe they make is one they modeled after my car when I let them borrow it.

I wish I had sent mine back instead of messing with it, I finally got it to work, by cutting the drivers side slip in pipe about 3 inches off, then I had to cut off the passs collector and rotate it an inch. Then I had to ovate the drivers die to clear the crossmember , which I also had to grind down to clear. over all, I went with the mufflex and sold this peice.

I guess thats what I will have to do... This is the second one from them already and it is not any different from the first one. The guys there were nice enough and the product seems to be decent other than the fit. I was just hoping someone could tell me what they had to do to make it fit. From what WS Sick said, sounds awfully complicated....

well, I took your advice (thanks all) and ordered a Jet Hot Y-pipe. We'll see how this one works out. In the mean time I am boxing the stainless works one up and sending it back to summit.

>did you order the LS1 Y pipe from JetHot ? And will it match up to the LT1 ? I didn't see anything about the LT1 Y pipe .
I hope it all works together ... keep us posted .

http://www.jet-hot.com/pages/newheaders.html

from their site ...
"98-02 Camaro/Firebird LS1 Y-pipe: Made from 3” diameter pipe and equipped with removable catalytic converters, this is the ultimate y-pipe for your LS1.It will connect directly to your stock exhaust when used with JET-HOT’s headers, and comes will all the hardware necessary for installation and switching between off and on-road setups. Additionally we have welded in O2 sensor fittings and supplied you with plugs if you choose not to use them. Of course all the piping is coated in the Sterling® finish. We also sell this system in an off-road only version."

I did specifically say to the sales man 93-97 LT1. So GOD I HOPE SO.... I will flip the hell out. I saw a post somewhere (guy with a 96 ws6) had a jet hot y-pipe and jet hot LTs so hopefully I am being shot straight. I know they don't offer it on the website. Maybe I should take the part number for the LS1 pipe and ask the same question as yesterday but ask for the part number for the LT1 pipe to see if they differ.

I guess we'll see. I will let you guys know.

Thanks!

You will probably get the hooker y-pipe. That is what they are using.

I could care less at this point who makes it, I just want it to fit... and the jet-hot coating is a bonus.

Hooker probably makes thier headers as well. They probably worked a deal.

Got the Jet hot Y-pipe today... MAN DOES IT LOOK SWEET. Looks better than the long tube headers.

It looks like it probably is the Hooker Y, it even comes with hooker stickers.

The coating looks great though, we'll see if it fits tomorrow. If I measured right, I think I am in there like a weggy.
