SS Ram Air vs. Aftmkt CAI

i currently have a moroso cold air intake on my z, and it works perfect. now ive heard that the CAI are just as good if not better than the ss ram air. is this true, or would i see more of a gain with the ram air? just wonderin?

That debate has gone on for ages. They're more and less the same, if you've got one, theres no need to swap to the other.

well is there any problems with the ram air... water or something? is there any cause for concern when you have the ram air? just curious...?

BASICALLY! The CAI Kits are better down low, and Ram Air Hoods are better up high, I mean HIGH! At about 80 or so mph it acts as a little S/C

i don't believe that... its in your head...

the ss ram air is the worst of the three... ws6/cai/ss

its more for looks than performance... keep your cai

I'm with that guy. In order to actually have a good Ram Air Hood, it needs to be about 2 inches above the hood line, and it must be like 3 inches tall for the air actually to be sucked in there, and to be RAMED( ramed or rammed?) into your intake.

exactly...

the SS scoop, is too small, and in the WORST place possible... thats one of the lowest pressure spots on the car and then the airs got a million turns and twists and blockages before it get to the intake... where as the ws6 scoops are bigger, and in the PERFECT spot... and its a straight shot BOOM directly into the intake... its the ideal air injection system... cai is in between

the differences in performance tho... are pretty minimal... definatly not worth swapping one for the other... unless you want the ws6 hood, for looks

i think mine works. i am still using a paper filter and with 80% of the boltons done and a car that is damn near full weight im trapping 109 with a high of 109.78 on a 95 degree day.

it works.... just not as well... the rest of the info you provided is irrelevant... im sure you could run a top fuel dragster thru a paper filter and it would still run at least 5's....

SLP's new ram air hood for the LT1/LS1 would be comparable to the T/A Ram Air system. It's a direct port ramair requires a little hardeware to convert over but you get the true ram air effect and it's mean looking. It has a NON-Pontiac look to it on a Camaro with the ram air in the most effective location. Regular SS hoods are not quite as responsive as a decent CAI due to the hood channeling from what I've read and heard.

like i said....

basically lets leave it at this and kill this thread off:

your cai is FINE and your not gonna get see any difference by converting to any other ram air system....

if you want a ram air system for looks... go for it... but remember... its for looks only pretty much

if your **** about it... go for the direct shot ram air like the ws6 or that slp one that other guy mentioned
