SS and Ram Air owners: What happens when it rains?

Just wondering what happens to the air cleaner when you guys are driving down the expressway in pouring rain?

Good question as I don't drive my car in the rain. But I do keep a roll of 100 mph tape in my glove box just in case.

Baffling in the hood keeps the water out.

What he said. The hoods are baffled, water goes around, air goes over.

hadn't had no trouble w/ mine when I had the original SS inake. Did you plan on changing your intake? If you are, the SLP CAI works much better

Hmm. I should look into that. My tape is only 98 mph.

The baffles for most people deflect the rain and keep it from the Airfilter..

On mine the 1 time I got caught in the rain since I've de-baffled my hood the K&N was fine...didn't seen wet, although I dought it mattered much...

I'm thinking of de-baffling my hood, did you run into any engine stumbliing when it rained or did you get any ses lights, and alot of people say that when you de-baffle
your car becomes louder, did you notice this?
thanks

My intake noise has increased some.. You can actually hear the air being sucked through the hood/Airbox/MAF/TB/Intake...

It never stumbled, although I've only driven it in the rain 1 time since I've done it... but I never had any issues from it except a little more "sucking" noise... which I actually think sounds pretty crazy on my car with the side-exhaust as well...

I never had a problem with the ram air on my TA. Course the vortech will suck up some water if you aren't careful, but that's with the filter mounted pretty much underneath the car now.

Several years ago I used a dremel tool to grind down the height of the baffle in my oem SS system. I only removed about an eight inch across the top to open it up a little as I did care to get rain water on my filter. I have had no problems to date.
