Question SS Ram air intake VS Cold air intake

I have a 95Z with a SS hood I was hoping some one could tell what is the best intake to go with the SS ram air intake to make to hood work. Or just go with the tryed and trued cold air intake. I wont to know what one makes more power.
THanks Trigger95z28

I've always thought the SS intakes were too convaluted to be completely effective. I'd go with a regular CAI.

Who makes the hood you have and how much did it cost?

Thanks,

I would say go with the american sports car design ram air set up it has smoother bend then some of the others on the market it is what i have. I had a CAI and when i got my SS hood i traded someone my CAI for the ram air set up. I had to send my CAI away first and had to drive with my stocker on for a while and i had a pretty good SOTP loss in power but when i put the ram air setup on it felt just as powerful as the old CAI i had. I personally went with the ram air set up. Anyone with a Z can have CAI but you have to have a hood at least to have ram air plus it looks cool too.

If you are in the performance mindset forget the SS ram air, its 800-900 bucks with hood and airbox for not as good of gains as a CAI for 100 bucks new off ebay or 200 bucks new from a store.

It has never been proven either way. If you talk to any SS guys that has done the swap to the CAI they will tell you that there was no loss or gain that they noticed at the track. I was thinking about doing that, but when I found out there wasnt a gain I decided to stay with what I have.

Put a supercharger or turbo that is the best intake

Anyways.. All the SS owners use a CAI why shouldn't you?

Get a honker from callaway.. its the best one..

I have a '95 Z28 and put the SS hood on also. I used to have the SS airbox, but it kept breaking off the mountings. I replaced it twice and on the 3rd time, I went with the Moroso CAI. I actually think its better. I kept the hood though. It looks cool.
