SS Hood With No Air Box?
SS Hood With No Air Box?
I saw a picture of somebodies car that had an SS hood but had no air box. Instead the car had CAI. Is that normal? Doesnt that make the RAM air feature non-functional? Just curious, trying to learn. Thanks.
Yes, u do lose the function of the Ram Air, but the open air slit in the SS hood still helps to cool the motor and other hood components.
CAI is know to produce more Torque where as Ram Air is more of a gain at top end speed.
Also, some ppl opt to go with the SS hood as an aftermarket hood, and thus never had Ram Air to begin with.

It's just a preference thing. Some who have the SS system just decide to delete the box and go with the CAI system.
I still have my original SLP RAM/SCAM and am quite satisfied that it is as functional, perhaps even better than most of the CAIs. Besides, why waste a perfectly good SS hood?
BTW, the Ram Air setup does not RAM anything. It's just another CAI with the opening through the hood and a flat filter rather than a conical filter routed down in front (inside).JMHO
