SS hood induction question

i just got my SS hood. I already have a SLP CAI so i will not be making the scoop functional. My question is...should i leave the scoop closed like it is or open it up to get air flow into the engine bay.. it cant hurt to open it up and cool off the LT1 right? theres no negitive effect to opening the scoop is there (besides water and debris)?
Also i need instructions on how to install the hood.

I had the inserts hollowed out in my stock hood and never had a problem. I was looking for the same thing - a little better under hood cooling. Those old edelbrock uncoated headers used to keep a hell of a lot of heat under the hood, and I was looking for a way to let the heat escape while ideling and allow some more fresh air in while driving.

Worked for me, I dont see why the open ss hood wouldnt work for you.

i would open it. Also fair warning the engine compartment will be harder to keep clean.

i'm not real sure how the hood works, i have a 97 SS and air gets through but my filter is never wet when i get stuck in the rain, somehow water does not make it through the hood scoop to the motor.
