SS hood?

I have a non-functional SS hood (does not ram air into my intake, but it is open ), would it benefit any (lower under-hood temps) to trim the lip on the rear of the scoop itself? it would kinda be like a cowl hood but forcing air in the front also.
it was just an idea that hit me when I was washing it today. give me your opinions, thanks.

Re: SS hood?

I beleive I may have an answer for you. I at one time had a functional SS hood on my car but was still using a CAI. So air was coming onto the top of the motor. At high speeds I did in fact notice my temp guage drop a little bit, maybe between 5-10 degrees, mostly at speeds above 80 mph tho. Hope this helps, Dustin.

Re: SS hood?

that is what I meant, I have a CAI but the hood is open on top. I figured it will help at speed and maybe cruising, but we shall see

Re: SS hood?

When I went to a Supercharger, my ram-air become an intake cooler. I installed a heat-sink on top of the intake and fuel rails. It truly helps bring temps down at the intake. Didn't do squat while idling in stop-n-go traffic.

Re: SS hood?

One thing i would worry about, it may affect the air routes of other areas. I have heard this before. IT is possible that the excessive wind coming from a place it wasnt designed to come from could throw off the air that is supposed to cool other components such as the opti for example.
