SS Air Box Question
You think our induction systems look bad.....check out the underside of a '98 and up SS hood. It has two ducts that have
to route the air back around to the front of the hood, then
pass through some rather small inlets. They should have
used SLP's Ultra Z hood. It might not be the prettiest, but
it at least has a more direct route to the airbox.

i will be going with the SS induction simply for ease of removal/cleaning/etc......the K&N is just too much of a pain.....i may be doing it the hard way, but i pull the splash panel off the drivers front to get to it....

I've had both systems. My old SS box was cracked and worn so I replaced it with a K&N cold air. Yeah sure the filter is harder to get at and clean. But honestly how many times can you clean a filter a year? And I do believe the SS one has very little ram air effect. Most of the air flows over the scoop as I'm told. And once again yeah sure, so maybe it's getting colder air from the outside, but it sits right on the intake, and I must say that sucker gets pretty hot, pretty fast. So any cold air I think just gets heated anyways. When I felt my K&N after installing it, the plastic was actualy cold! Thats what convinced me it's better. And about only getting air through 6 little slits in the guard, just cut a whole and put a scoop. A lot of people will say "no your going to risk getting water in" but unless you're driving through a puddle (as in the front of your car is under water) then water isn't going to be a problem. Just my experiences...
