squeeling noise from engine

basically i have a squeeling noise coming from my engine. it really sounds like a squeeky belt, but unfortunately when i was looking at it from under and up top i can't really say it is coming from the belts. it sounds a little more back. i was thinking maybe i had like my compressor bearing going bad again, or the other thing is the wheel my wheel vibrates. maybe power steering pump is going bad? i am not sure. maybe someone has had a problem like this before

Sounds like it may be your power steering. Try taking off the belt and spin each of the pulleys by hand and see if you get any squeeking. You can also run your car with the belt off with no problems for a little bit to see if the squeeking noise is coming from something else.

Are you sure it is a squeeking and not a high pitched whining? If so, someone may have put a blower on your car when you wern't paying attention.

Take the belt off and run the car.. if it stops squeeling, then you at least narrowed it to down.

Re: squeeling noise from engine

profico, could you maybe elaborate? i ask only because i have had my new cam in for about 700 miles now, and the noise started maybe 200 miles after. tomorrow i will take off belt and hand spin, then start engine to see

in fact, now that i remember better the noise started after i left the drag strip. i left the drag strip because i remember on one launch there was a loud noise and the car kind of fell flat, i thought it was just the transmission mount, and i know i lost a tooth on the rear (the cover revealed a decent amount of metal), but it could also be concevied that maybe that is the problem as well.
