Squeeking/Chirping noise?
Squeeking/Chirping noise?
I was driving my car the other day and i started hearing a noise. When I got out it sounded like it was coming from a belt or pulley, sort of a chirping squeeking sound. I pulled the belt and spun the alternator and it squeeked, so I figured the bearing was bad. I got a new alternator and put it in. It sounded great until the car got warmed up from driving a bit and then the noise came back. I pulled the belt again and it felt to me like the tensioner was resistant to being spun, so I installed a new one. Same result as the alternator, it sounded fine until I drove it a bit and then the noise came back. This time I pulled the belt and started the car and the noise was still there. It sounded like it was coming from the back of the motor the more I listened to it. I got under and it sounds like it's coming from the flywheel/torque converter area. I have the dust shield off but it doesn't look like anything got in there, and the TC to flywheel bolts are tight.
Anyone else have any advise? I'm calling the guy who built the transmission tomorrow. I really hope nothing is wrong with it.
Also, as a side note, the guy built the tranny and I installed it. He put some trans fluid in it and filled the TC for me. When I installed it I topped it off, but I used Ford Trans fluid by accident. I probably put about 7-9 quarts of the ford in. I asked my tranny guy about it and he said it shouldn't matter, that it should be pretty compatible. Could that have anything to do with the problem?
thanks
