springs to handle .610+ lift

are there any springs that will fit stock heads that can handle .610 or higher lift? the cam i am looking at is .596 lift, and i feel that a .600 spring is just cutting it too close.

thanks
david

Re: springs to handle .610+ lift

You have a 1.750 installed height + .610 lift + .050 for clearance to coil bind =.660. You will need a spring that doesn't coil bind until 1.090 which you probably won't find.
Get .050 UP retainers and make your installed height 1.800 and you will probably find plenty to choose from.
After break in your springs will loose 20-25lbs pressure,so shoot for about 150 seat and 350 nose pressure on assembly and you will be about right for a hyd roller unless it is super aggressive and then you will need more.
After changing installed height you will need push rods and check the clearance between retainer and rockers under the bottom.

K-motion 800's fit stock heads and are supposedly good to .700 lift.

its safer to get the spring seats cut out or use a smaller lift cam,i understand saving money is a good thing cause our hobby is not cheap, however that is not the area you want to get cheap in...
there is a big difference in having a part that will work and the part designed to work......

what about comp 977's? i have heard that they are good for .655? also, are the comp stock replacement lifters stronger that the stock lifters, will the be able to hold up to the seat pressure with no problem?

You said .596 lift, right? The 847 has .595 lift on exhaust w/1.6 rr . Your cam has similiar lift, and i would guess that it has somewhat similar duration. Would you run stock lifters on an 847? I'd at least get comp r's, but that's my $.02

977s are too much spring for hyd roller lifters...they will actually collapse them some. 977s are actually designed as a solid roller spring. Trust me.
