Spring pressure and stock lifters

Does anyone know if my stock lifters can handle 400lbs open pressure? They only have 28k on them. Any examples you might what to share would be appreciated. Thanks, and have a good Thanksgiving.

400 lbs open pressure is right at the limit of the stock lifters. When I was researching my cam, I found that 400 was really the limit of what cam manufacturers would recommend. They got very nervous about crossing that threshold. Some didn't want to see over 380. At 400, I believe you will shorten the lifter life significantly.

That said, I'm running about 380 on mine and have had no problems so far. Even if the car sits for an extended period, the lifters don't need to pump up, and make no noise on startup.

I've had several customers have issues above 6200rpm or so with sub .600" lift HR setups using a spring with only 330-340lb open spring pressure. Most were alleviated by going to a set of 875-16 lifters.

Phil,
Can you elaborate on the issues you mentioned? What did these people experience?
