Spohn Torque Arm Help!

Installed it yesterday and man its making alot of noise. Like a thump when the transmission switchs gears. The only thing I can think of is the bottom bolt on the g-load crossbrace was really tight and I think you are suppose to leave it just "snug". Could that be causing all the noise?

I have a big thump when i shift as well. Sometimes, if you launch it hard, it'll hump 2 or 3 times!

Tranny mount? Torque arm bushing? tranny bolt?
I'm lost!

Mine was making a noise also. It turned out to be that the rear torque arm mounting bracket was hitting the floor pan. I had to take a big hammer and dent it for clearance. My exhaust was hitting also but that's a different story.

What bushing did you order on the Torque Arm? I got the rod-ended one, and it does that a little bit. Your best bet is to cram that bushing full of grease, will cut down on the noise from my experience.

I installed the Poly end (but I have both) just to keep the noise down. I am going to take the g-load brace side (front) of it apart tonight and loosen up that bolt and put it all back together with a bunch of grease. I dont think it was hitting the floor pan because I was just cruising around the block with it, no bumps or anything. Its not the Trans mount because I check that as well, no issues. I did a search and alot of people are having issues with the noise. I know it has to be the arm because it was fine before.

I have the same klunking noise But I am pretty sure that there is too much slop in the size of the holes in the link plates are bolted to the cross brace. I have been able to phisically move the torque arm up and down when it gets too loose and it is where the plates are bolted to the cross brace that moves. When I tighten the bolt is fixes the problem teporarily but it seems to start making noise again an a week or so. I am planning on dropping the whole TA out tonight and measuring the hole sizes and the bolt diameter to see what kind of tolerance is there. I may take it in to a machine shop the get the link plates and cross member drilled out for a fitted bolt to tighten it up.

I don't see how switching the bolts would cause any problems with clearance, but I can't remember exactly what everything looks like. To be honest, cramming my bushing full of grease all but eliminated the problem. I'd try that first.

I have the thump too. in my case its the rear torque arm bracket on the diff housing hitting the bottom of the car. Look and see if you have marks underneath you car from where its been hitting.

I'll check that out too. Anyone mount a piece of rubber or something on it?

When first installed, my floor pan literally sat on the t.a. when mounted to the 12 bolt. Once that was resolved it was still very noisy over any bump, even a little expansion joint. However, it fine now that its adjusted with -2* preload. The only time I hear it is when braking and hitting a bump at the same time. BTW, spherical rod end here too.
