Arrow Spin your front wheel....

If anyone has their front end jacked up, could you please spin one of your front wheels for me?
I don't remember exactly how it should be normal, but I think it is supposed to spin freely... Am I right?
Thanks.

should spin freely unless you have your foot on the brake or have warped rotors or bad bearings. E-brake only goes to the rear. Ever tried to take off the front lugs when the car was already up? Doesn't work so well unless you've got an impact.

Yea, I remember on my '95 they were very easy to spin, but on the 93, they're pretty hard. Seems like the brake pads/rotors is the problem since I can hear the friction between them. I wonder why though.

I would think with warped rotors it would be a pulsating (for lack of a better word) rub, but mine is constant and on both wheels. Maybe the pads were installed wrong or perhaps they're not even right for this car?
Thanks.

Sounds like your calipers are sticking.

Sounds more like your calipers might be sticking.

If I remember correctly...93 has slightly different brakes than the later years. I want to say that they're smaller but maybe an echo will confirm.

Yep, I think they're different too. What do you mean by caliper sticking? Piston not backing out all the way? If so, what's the cure?
Thanks!

yep, not backing out. They can be rebuilt or replaced...I've never tried to rebuild them so I don't know the details.

You can pick up rebuilds at Auto Zone etc.. They are cheap and easy to swap out.

Mine have never spun as freely as I think they should, but I have never had any trouble or excess wear.

I just looked on autozone's website and they charge $38 per caliper. Not too bad I guess. (minus cores)

I might just replace them. Do you have to bleed the entire system afterwards or just the front channel?

Thanks!

PS. The reason why I even bother is because I think I'm losing a little bit at the drag strip because of them.

just the fronts will need bleeding, and very little bleeding since you will only be loosing a little fluid at the very end of the line
